Sul canale SQLPASS TV, continua la pubblicazione delle sessioni erogate al PASS Summit 2011. Questa settimana è stata pubblicata la sessione No More Bad Dates: Best Practices for Working with Dates and Times tenuta da Kendra Little (Managing Director, Brent Ozar Unlimited).

Abstract

Dates and times seem simple at first. Kendra Little will show you there’s more to it than you think. She’ll give you five best practices that will help you select the right temporal data type, avoid common issues, and use the most effective techniques to aggregate data. She’ll also explain painful problems with query performance and how to avoid them. Choose wisely: the correct types and high performing data access logic will scale like magic.

Come già detto a breve sarà disponibile la versione pubblica della beta di SQL Server 2014, la CTP1. Nel frattempo è possibile iniziare a studiare le novità  introdotte e come utilizzare al meglio il prodotto usando la Product Guide, già disponibile, anch’essa in versione CTP1, online:

Rilasciato il Cumulative Update #7 per SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2:

Rilasciato il Cumulative Update #8 per SQL Server 2012 RTM:

Dopo aver applicato il CU8, la versione di SQL Server 2012 RTM sarà: 11.0.2410.0.

Al TechEd North America 2013, durante la Keynote del primo giorno, Microsoft ha ufficialmente annunciato SQL Server 2014.

Le novità sono come al solito molte ed a questo giro si concentrano principalmente sull’engine di SQL Server che, come già anticipato all’appena conclusa SQL Conference 2013 a Milano, vede l’introduzione di un nuovo engine - Hekaton - accanto a quello classico e consolidato, per l’elaborazione di dati complementente in-memory.
